Soft Bodies – Hard Spaces
2025
chewing gums,used PCBs
Residency organised by Luuk Schröder at an e-waste recycling center / 24 – 28 Mar 2025 / Apeldoorn
It began with discarded watermelon-flavored gum, softened and reshaped into a small colony of delicate, unfamiliar creatures. Their very form was an act of soft resistance, born from our residency’s central tension: the feeling of creating art within the stark, pragmatic landscape of a recycling center.
To extend this dialogue, the creatures were taken to another realm of pure function: the supermarket. Photographed among produce aisles and fluorescent lights, these soft, sticky forms became quiet interlopers in a world of commerce and consumption. The images document their temporary habitation of that space, a visual question about belonging, value, and where art is permitted to exist.
